Hiking with children at Lake Reschen

Let’s go to the border triangle!

You don't have to walk very far to pass three countries! A hike from Lake Reschen to the border triangle is borderline experience that you’ll never forget.

Who can claim to have walked through three states in one day? Hiking at Lake Reschen makes it possible! Here the borders of Italy, Switzerland, and Austria meet. Our recommendation: This easy day hike to the Dreiländerstein (three country stone) offers great experiences in the family holiday in South Tyrol in summer.

  • Start and destination: Car park in Reschen-Altdorf
  • Length: 12km
  • Duration: approx. 4 hours
  • Altitude difference: 700 m
  • Signs: Dreiländereck signpost, marker no. 3
  • Refreshment stop: Reschner Alm

The well-signposted trail runs largely on wide tracks and is therefore easy for children to master. The impressive alpine view over lush green meadows up to the peaks of the Samnaun Alps and down to the deep blue Lago di Resia makes up for all the effort involved in hiking. The highlight of the tour is the Dreiländerstein, which a stone that marks the border of Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. Whoever sits on it is in all three countries at the same time. A lasting memory for the entire family!

Have fun,
